The Murray River wanders past wetlands where bird life abounds with a large variety of birds. As the river winds through the forest areas, kangaroos and emus can be seen in the wild.
The historic Port of Echuca and its amazing wharf provides an opportunity to explore life in the 1900's. Echuca was the largest inland port in Australia at one time. You will discover some elements of a bygone era including horse drawn carriage rides, a wood turner and blacksmith as well as a steam driven saw mill.
Rich River houseboats is conveniently located very close to the historic port and the town centre.

The river carries a variety of fish including Perch, Yellowbelly and Redfin are just some on offer. The Murray Cod is also a good catch and tends to be a favourite catch for many freshwater anglers. There are also crayfish. The season lasts from May to August and Rich River can supply you with crayfish equipment and tell you how to cook them. Fishing licenses are required.

For those who just want to relax you will find plenty of secluded sandy beaches. Just park the houseboat and relax. Read a good book, laze around on the houseboat sundeck with a quiet drink or take a dip in the river. Have yourself a sunset barbecue is also so relaxing.
